Wharton Global High School Investment Competition

Registration for the 2021-2022 Wharton Global High School Investment Competition is now open!

Important details, dates, as well as helpful resources and tools can be found here:

https://globalyouth.wharton.upenn.edu/investment-competition

The competition is a free, English-based, online investment simulation for high school students and teachers. Participants compete with other students from around the world and learn about finance, teamwork, strategy building and analysis.

We have made some exciting changes to this year’s competition:

TEAMS

  • Students can form a team with members from ANYWHERE in the world!
  • The Top 50 teams across the competition will be selected as semifinalists, rather than sorting semifinalists by global region.

ADVISORS

  • Teams are still required to have an advisor.
  • We strongly encourage and recommend having a teacher serve as the team advisor; however teams may also choose an adult such as a relative or a financial professional as your advisor.
  • Advisors are still responsible for registering their team(s) for the competition.

DETAILS ABOUT THE COMPETITION

  • It is open to any high school student, age 14-18.
  • Teams consist of four to seven students.
  • Trading runs for 10 weeks (September 27 - December 3, 2021).
  • Teams manage portfolios of $100,000 in virtual cash.
  • There are two competition deliverables: mid-term review and final report.
  • The winners are selected on the strength, creativity and articulation of their strategies and competition experiences, not on the growth of their portfolios.

The top 10 teams from the semifinals are invited to present their strategies to a panel of judges during a special global finale event in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S. in May 2022.
