Writing In Colour - Gr 11 essay contest @ U of Waterloo

 

Organizers of the Writing in Colour: English Grade 11 Essay Colloquium Award and the University of Waterloo Department of English invite grade 11 students who are Black, Indigenous, or students of colour to submit an essay of between 500 to 1000 words to the 2023 student colloquium to be held at the University of Waterloo.

STEM Club Grades 9-12 @ McMaster University

Explore the excitement of Engineering!

Our free after school STEM Club is available for students in Grades 9-12. The two-week recurring club gives students the opportunity to learn from mentors, create STEM based projects and develop fundamental digital literacy skills. This program encourages confidence and works to inspire students to further explore STEM fields through fun and innovative learning.
 
Each registered participant will receive all required project materials as well as dinner each week! We are excited to welcome you to McMaster University’s campus in a supportive, collaborative, and fun environment for students to connect with each other and discover the excitement of Engineering!
 
Each club cohort will meet once a week for 2 concurrent weeks. There will be 3 separate cohorts available for registration with different club dates- the content repeats per cohort.
 
Please only register for 1 cohort as space is limited and we want to ensure there are equal opportunities given to all interested participants.

Join us for this coding-focused program! Learn how to create a variety of programs culminating in a final project that brings together what you’ve learned. Students will learn and apply the basics of programming, as well as how to design and plan a new coding project!

DESIGN FOR ALL - University of Waterloo

 7 weeks, every Tuesday from October 18th to November 29th

6:00 - 8:30pm; UWaterloo Main Campus
Grade 9 - 12; $30+HST
 
(Bursaries Available)

This program aims to teach participants the principles and applications of assistive technology and inclusive design. Participants will use 3D design software, soldering and circuitry to build assistive technology for people with disabilities. In addition, participants get to learn first-hand about new advancements in assistive technology and career pathways from engineers and professors in various STEM fields. We would like to thank Ontario Power Generation and Makers Making Change for the support and contributions to this program. *Please note this program is only open to girls and non-binary youth

GO ENG GIRL - University of Waterloo

Attention all parents, girls, and non-binary youth! This program is a FREE and exciting opportunity for Grade 7 - 10 girls, including all youth who identify as girls or non-binary, to learn about the wonderful world of engineering. Meet current engineering students, learn about some of the amazing things women engineers are doing, and participate in an awesome design challenge! Parents will also have the opportunity to participate in a STEM activity and attend an Engineering Admissions Information Session and Q&A.
