Poetry Contest



This year, COSTI Immigrant Services is once again pleased to bring students across the greater Toronto area and beyond, an exciting poetry contest on 'Refugees and Human Rights' to honour and raise awareness about these incredible people; our neighbours, friends and peers.

The contest deadline April 30, 2018 and is fast approaching. 

Students must attend a school in the greater Toronto area and can be of any legal status in Canada, including students born in or outside of Canada. The contest is intended to raise awareness about refugee and human rights issues, there are multiple prizes for students (including an IPad Tablets) whose poems will be judged by our esteemed guest judges.

Creating Leadership Amongst Youth Conference (CLAY)


What is CLAY?

Founded in 1992, CLAY is a 3-day, 2-night conference that empowers high school students to discover their leadership potential. This year  CLAY is taking place on Friday May 25th to Sunday May 27th, 2018 at Camp Trillium in Waterford, Ontario. Students will be residing in cabins on the campground and will be supervised by McMaster Student Leaders.

Youth will have the opportunity to share and expand their knowledge and leadership skills through interactive small group sessions, motivational keynote speakers, and community-building activities. Session topics including teamwork & communication, mental health, social responsibility, and stress & time management will be emphasized in a supportive, empowering setting. Beyond these individual takeaways, we hope that attending CLAY will help to inspire a sense of belonging in the community within the youth who attend.

Additionally, CLAY is able to provide some partial/full sponsorship, as we recognize that this cost may make the conference not accessible to all students.
