IGNITE Program (Grades 9 - 12)

The IGNITE Program is for enthusiastic high school students (Grades 9 to 12) who are interested in exploring the world of science and technology while developing essential digital skills of various types. The IGNITE Program contains generalized and specialized courses that either help students explore STEM topics to discover their interests, or focus on a specific subject matter to master a skill. There are two courses available in Fall 2021:

  1. Tech Explore course is an introduction to engineering, where learners will 1) explore and apply concepts in 3D modeling using FreeCAD, 2) learn and apply graphic design principles in Canva and 3) code in the Python programming language to explore the exciting area of App Development!

  1. Web Dev course is an introduction to web development in which learners will explore and become fluent in three fundamental programming languages used in web development -  HTML, CSS, and JavaScript - to create their own websites from scratch!

NEXUS Program (Grades 11 - 12)

The NEXUS Program is designed for passionate post-secondary bound high school students. Through NEXUS, we're bridging the gap between high school and post-secondary education! In this program, participants can take the Engineering Stream course, to learn fundamentals of computer programming and machine learning, or the Science Stream course, to apply concepts in Biology, Chemistry and Physics in the context of superheroes through an inquiry-based approach.

In addition to technical knowledge in Engineering or Science, the NEXUS Program provides participants with learning opportunities to develop essential soft skills that have been identified as the most important in ensuring success in post-secondary pathways: time management, problem solving, self-directed learning and note taking.

The NEXUS Program is an excellent experiential learning opportunity for students looking to apply to universities and colleges; awards are provided to exceptional students for their participation and work.
