1.                  PEACE (Police Ethnic & Cultural Ed.) Youth Leadership Program
Grades 11 and 12 students                   
Tuesdays from Sept. 11– November 20th, 2012 at 1151 Bronte Road
Students get physically involved in multiple aspects of the Police Service.  under the Diversity area.

OSSTF Contest “The Right to Speak the Responsibility to Listen”

3.                  Encounters with Canada
17 possible weeks in Ottawa with students from across Canada!
Students choose a specific area of interest and are also in 4 modules: Linguistic Duality(Official Languages Support Program), Diversity, Racism and Multiculturalism, Peace (Veterans Affairs) & Youth Engagement (Exchanges Canada)
Students visit the House of Commons, Senate and tour the National Capital Region.
Fall Sessions include: Sports and Fitness – Sept 9 – 15, Oct 21 – 27, Nov 11 - 17

4.                  Halton Regional Youth Advisory Committee (HRYAC)
and Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee
IRHS has had members on HRYAC , connected to the community through this forum
Youth are needed to provide input to Halton Regional Council.

The theme of "Change"       May 12th - 16th, 2013
Application deadline: March 2013
Cost: Program fee: $450
Supervised overnight shared residence accommodation: $120

Grade 11 program, March 2013

Design theme           March 10th - 15th , 2013
5 day program: dates may coincide with some school boards' March Break.
(Out-of-town arrivals: Sunday evening)

Grade 12 program, November 2012

Roadmap to research

3 day program (Wednesday through Friday)

A program at Thirteen sites in Ontario including

70 Shad Alumni won Millenium Scholarships, 21 Shad Alumni have been named as Rhodes Scholars since 1989.      Scholarships available, and more details at:

8.                  Advanced Placement Exam Prep
Listen for announcements.
Details to come in late October with a commitment required in late November.
Exams run first 2 full weeks of May.  Cost = $87.00 U.S.
