SHAD update

Instagram Live Q&A: On October 18 at 7 PM EDT we will be doing a SHAD application Q&A on Instagram Live. Follow us on Instagram (@SHADprogram) to tune in and get the latest info on SHAD 2019.
The deadline to apply to SHAD 2019 is one month away! We hope to see promising students from your school (who are currently in grade 10, 11 or 12) applying to this opportunity to spend their July at a university campus and unleash their potential as Change Makers.

It can be tough for students to know where to begin with applying to SHAD, so let's debunk the misconceptions surrounding the SHAD application:

Myth 1: Students need to have an average in the high 90's
SHAD values curiosity over high academic grades. We are looking for students who love learning for the sake of learning, are open minded and creative. There is no grade average cut-off for eligibility - if a student loves to learn, encourage them to apply!
Myth 2: Students should only apply if they can afford the full program feeA range of bursaries and scholarships are available to ensure SHAD is accessible to students from diverse economic backgrounds. Last year SHAD awarded over 1 million dollars in bursaries and scholarship for students with demonstrated financial need!
Myth 3: SHAD is a STEAM summer camp that only lasts a month SHAD is a network for life and our SHAD alumni will gain access to benefits throughout their academic and professional careers. Participants receive the SHAD Fellow designation, which is recognized by university admissions and major scholarship providers. This is why our Fellow network of over 17,000 alumni features 32 Rhodes Scholars, 88 Loran Scholars, and 56 Schulich Leaders!
Myth 4: My students are from a rural & remote community and won't fit in Many of our SHAD Fellows from remote communities say SHAD expanded their network. In their words:
"
Encourage, educate and empower your promising student leaders to
Thank you for all of your support.
