Global Engineering Challenge [Virtual] for Grades 9 - 12

The Global Engineering Challenge welcomes you to the University of Toronto, where upper-year and recently graduated engineering students lead courses for those who want to explore all areas of STEM. Our courses are meant for students to experience what it's like to work on an engineering team and to come up with innovative solutions to solve today's global engineering challenges. We will be offering two courses, both online, with eligibility based on grade level. You can learn more about these individual courses by visiting our website.

In-Person | CREATE: Engineering Design Challenges | Grades 9 - 12 | July 10th to August 25th, 2023 | $600/Week
This brand-new program combines practical activities, laboratory experiments, and site visits to guide students the through the Engineering Design Cycle.
In-Person | DEEP Summer Academy | Grades 9 - 12 | July 10th to August 4th, 2023 | $600/Week (Domestic) | $950/Week (International)
The Da Vinci Engineering Enrichment Program (DEEP) is designed for highly motivated high school students with an aptitude for science and math. This merit-based program provides students with the opportunity for advanced study in a variety of engineering, technology, business, and science disciplines.

Discovery Days in Health Sciences are one-day events that provide secondary school students (ideally grades 10 and 11) with the opportunity to explore a variety of career options in medicine and the health sciences. Participants gain a clearer picture of what it would be like to be a health professional by interacting with researchers, clinicians and educators in their real-life work setting. Invitation to Apply - SPARCS Virtual Computer Science Workshop
Seeing Possibilities and Rewards in Computer Science (SPARCS)
SPARCS is a unique opportunity designed to ignite enthusiasm for computer science among people of gender identities under-represented in computer science.* Designed for Grade 9 and 10 students with little to no exposure to computer science, this workshop brings participants together from across Canada. Participants learn that computer science is about much more than using and programming computers.
Intended Audience
We welcome people with gender identities under-represented in computer science including women, non-binary and trans folk to apply. Applicants must be in Grade 9 or 10, have an interest in mathematics, and must currently attend a Canadian high school or middle school. Participants should not have attended a similar workshop.
SPARCS (Virtual)
A virtual version of this workshop will be held on Zoom from Sunday, June 11 to Wednesday, June 14, 2023. Each day will consist of two, hour-long sessions. Participants are expected to attend all session and event times listed for the workshop.

Participants will be selected at random using a lottery system.
Fee
Registration fee of $25 will need to be paid after applicants are selected for the workshop. Financial support to cover the cost of the workshop may be arranged for students in need.
