The Wharton Global Youth Competitions Team is excited to announce two awesome opportunities for high school students with competitive spirits and a passion for business and finance.
Today, we are opening registration for our annual Wharton Global High School Investment Competition. See below for all the details.
The competition is a free, English-based, online investment simulation for high school students and teachers. Participants compete with other students from around the world and learn about finance, teamwork, strategy building, analysis and communication.
We have made a big change to this year’s competition! In addition to the Approved Stock List, teams will be permitted to buy and sell Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) from an approved list comprised of various domestic and international exchanges.
Details about the competition:
- Teams must be comprised of students (4-7) from the same school.
- Teams are required to have an advisor and the advisor must be a teacher/educator at the school.
- Open to any active high school student, age 14-18
- Trading runs for 10 weeks (September 25 - December 1, 2023)
- Teams manage portfolios of $100,000 in virtual cash
- Two competition deliverables: mid-term review and final report
- Winners are selected on the strength, creativity and articulation of their strategies and competition experiences, not on the growth of their portfolios.
The top 10 teams from the semifinals are invited to present their strategies to a panel of judges during a special global finale event in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S. in April 2024.
