The Wharton Global Youth High School Programs are immersive experiences for students currently enrolled in grades 9–11. Led by Wharton faculty and instructional staff, programs explore topics that align with Wharton research and teaching. Pre-collegiate students engage with Wharton’s rigorous business education and get the chance to study and network with global peers in preparation for making a post-secondary choice.
Residential summer programs include:
• Essentials of Entrepreneurship:
Essentials of Entrepreneurship is an opportunity for high school students to develop innovative thinking and hone problem-solving skills. Students will work collaboratively to take a product concept from idea to reality and learn what it takes to truly be an entrepreneur.
• Essentials of Finance:
Essentials of Finance is an opportunity for high school students to learn the fundamentals of finance and delve into the world of investing. Utilizing an online stock simulator, students work collaboratively to develop and present a comprehensive investment strategy.
• Leadership in the Business World:
LBW is an intensive three-week program for a select group of rising high school juniors and seniors that fuses research-based theories of leadership and teamwork with practical application through real-world business simulations and collaborative projects.
• Data Science Academy:
The three-week Data Science Academy equips rising high school juniors and seniors with essential data science techniques such as data visualization and data wrangling. Students will also be introduced to modern machine learning methodologies which are all building blocks for today’s AI field.
• Moneyball Academy:
The Wharton Moneyball Academy is ideal for rising high school juniors and seniors with a strong background in math and a love of sports. Students get to study sports analytics at Wharton and learn how real-life professionals use computer programming, statistical thinking, and data to make deep discoveries in sports.
• Sports Business Academy:
In this rigorous three-week program, rising high school juniors and seniors examine various academic disciplines as they apply to the sports industry with an overview of the business and legal aspects of various intercollegiate, Olympic, and professional sports enterprises. Students will explore ownership, sports agents, marketing, media, labor, and more.
• Management & Technology Summer Institute
The Management & Technology Summer Institute (M&TSI) is a rigorous and rewarding for-credit summer program for rising high school seniors and a select number of rising high school juniors interested in exploring the integration of technological concepts and management principles. Run by the Jerome Fisher Program in Management & Technology in partnership with Penn Engineering and the Wharton School, M&TSI features classes taught by leading Penn faculty and successful entrepreneurs, field trips to companies and R&D facilities, an intensive team prototyping project and other activities designed to give students the opportunity to learn about the principles and practice of technological innovation.
Online summer programs include:
• Future of the Business World:
Led by Wharton faculty, the Future of the Business World introduces the foundations of a Wharton education to current 9–11 graders. Students explore real-time business themes and engage with big questions about the evolving world through group work, mini-lectures, project-based learning, and business simulations.
• Moneyball Academy: Training Camp
Serving as a broad introduction to the sports’ statistics world, the Wharton Moneyball Academy: Training Camp welcomes talented high school students who have strong math skills and an interest in sports. Wharton Professor Adi Wyner will join guest faculty and PhD students to teach students the fundamental principles of sports statistics.
