The Future of Syria Youth Summit - September 27th!

The Canadian Centre for the Responsibility to Protect will be holdings get a youth summit on the future of the Syrian conflict at the Munk School of Global Affairs, UToronto on Wednesday, September 27th. It is a free and open event for all high schoolers, which will feature panel discussions on the Syrian conflict. Panel members will include Paul Heinbecker (former UN Representative for Canada) and Maria Banda (D. Phil., Oxford & international legal expert). Since CCR2P High School Ambassadors positions will also be opening up soon, this also provides an opportunity to network with directors and members of the advisory board.

Forum for Young Canadians

The Forum for Young Canadians is Canada's civic education program for students aged 15-19 years old.  Forum brings over 100 students per week to Ottawa for an intensive academic adventure immersing them in the exciting world of national politics and public affairs.

 Enjoy breakfast at the Senate with Senators 

 Forge new friendships with other young Canadians from across the country 

 Take part in International Trade, Federal Budget and National Election simulations 

• THERE ARE MULTIPLE SIMULATIONS OVER THE COURSE OF THE WEEK THAT ALLOW YOU TO UNDERSTAND HOW THE DECISIONS GET MADE BY TAKING PART IN THEM.

  These include:
• • Attend a Cabinet Simulation where each participant becomes a Cabinet Minister and must defend their ministry’s point of view when discussing a topic.

  • Be a part of exciting simulations over the course of the week to understand how change happens.

  • Be a part of a World Trade Simulation.
  • Attend a Provincial-Federal Conference Simulation.

  The simulations are constantly being updated and may be different during your session.

SHAD 2018

GRADE 10, 11 AND 12 students:

SHAD is seeking high achieving students interested in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) with incredible intellect, drive, initiative and creativity, who are seeking an enrichment experience. 

The SHAD program runs from July 1 to July 27, 2018.

The on-line application is due by November 20th.

The admission process is competitive. The application takes into consideration both academic results and extra-curricular participation. Please review the application requirements below before starting the online application.

Summer High School Credit in Archaeology

Boyd Archaeological Field School’s 2017 session (40th season!) – an exciting opportunity for students to earn a high school credit in two weeks while getting real archaeological skills. 

The Field School was founded in 1975, and has provided hundreds of students with the foundations of archaeological practice.  Many have gone on to post-secondary studies and careers in the field. 

The course, open to students who have completed Grade 10, is offered as an Interdisciplinary Studies, Grade 12 University Prep credit (IDC4U).  The program is run by Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) in a partnership with the York Region District School Board. 

Students live in dormitories at Claremont Field Centre, north of Ajax, and excavate the nearby Sebastien site a 14th century village ancestral to the Huron-Wendat nation.  In addition to fieldwork, there are visits from Indigenous speakers, lectures by leading professionals, seminars, and hands-on workshops in ancient technologies such as flint-knapping (stone-tool making), firestarting kits, cordage, fishtraps and other re-creations.  Evaluation is based on fieldwork, written assignments, seminars, workshops and a final exam. 

This summer’s course is takes place July 14th to 30th 

Tuition is $2395 ($2695 for non-residents of Ontario).
