Our campers are gifted/highly able children and youth in grades 1-9 who are looking for a day camp experience that piques their curiosity and has a large “fun” quotient. LEAP programs, designed and led by certified teachers, employ innovative and creative approaches to learning, and provide a rich variety of activities to appeal to all types of learners.

We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers aged 16 and over to enhance our programming. Although we would prefer to have our volunteers attend the entire camp session, arrangements can be made to attend part-time. If you have any questions, please contact us at leap@wlu.ca.

Sensational Saturdays

Winter Day Camp,2012

Registration opens November 14, 2011

Sensational Saturdays is a Saturday morning program, 9 a.m. - 12 noon which runs for 6 Saturday mornings from January 28 - March 3, 2012.

Enrichment programming is offered to campers in Grades 1-9.

Fee for the 6 week session is $140.

Registration package and camp descriptions will be available by November 14 so please check back then. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact LEAP at leap@wlu.ca.

She said it was a great tribute to the strong and longstanding relationship between these organizations and Encounters with Canada – as well as a testament to the hard work and dedication of Program Director Francine Jobin and her staff in delivering an outstanding program week after month after year!

At this year’s annual general meeting, held recently at the Terry Fox Canadian Youth Centre, the Foundation agreed to provide a $75 bursary to each student attending the two Vimy weeks this year. Be a Hero For Affordable Housing!

2011 marks the 5th anniversary of the

 Be a Hero. Be a Voice for Affordable Housing contest for high school students.

Since its pilot in 2007 more than 200 students representing high schools from across Halton Region have participated in the Be a Hero contest, and more than $5000 in cash prizes has been awarded. 

Created to help bring awareness to the need for more affordable housing in Halton; the Be a Hero. Be a Voice for Affordable Housing contest has been recognized as being a model for youth engagement and recognized by the U.S. based PRNEWS Non-Profit Awards and the Toronto chapter, IABC for Corporate Social Responsibility.

The Be a Hero contest gives high school students a unique opportunity to be a voice for change in their own community by using their creative talents to raise awareness around the issues of homelessness and the need for affordable housing in Halton.
