DEEP Summer Academy Applications

We are pleased to announce that 2022 DEEP Summer Academy applications are now open

We are also accepting bursary applications for this program. Bursary application details can be found on our website. Full program details and the application registration link can be found by clicking on the program title below.

DEEP Summer Academy |  Grades 9 - 12  | July 4 to 29, 2022

The DEEP Summer Academy is designed for highly motivated high school students with an aptitude for science and math. DEEP provides students from around the world with the opportunity for advanced study in a variety of engineering, technology, business and science discipline DEEP will run for four one-week sessions starting July 4th, 2022. The program is open to students currently in grades 9-12 (2021-2022 school year).

If you are interested in attending DEEP please visit our website for further instructions on how to apply and necessary documents to include. There is a non-refundable $50 application fee

DEEP Summer Academy application submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis.  Applicants can expect to learn the outcome of their application within two weeks of submission. 

The Engineering Outreach Office is following the COVID-19 guidance laid out by the University of Toronto. Please see UTogether for the most up-to-date information. As the University determines procedure and policy for the summer term, participants will be updated prior to the program start date (with as much notice as possible).

AIM Pathways

 

Calling all students interested in finance, healthcare, technology and law! The Federation of Canadian Secondary Students (FCSS) is proud to announce the launch of AIM Pathways.

AIM Pathways is a business consulting program aimed at developing high school students' ability to tackle current issues in the business world. In this business consulting competition, students will create a proposal to solve problems currently faced by real businesses in finance, healthcare, technology, and law fields.

Not only will students have the opportunity to attend workshops concerning consulting skills for preparation, but selected students will have their proposals judged by business owners and consultants. Through this program, we aim to provide students with real-life consulting experiences through interactions with industry experts.

If that isn’t enough, competitors will be given the following prizes:

🏆 Top prize - $75

In each stream, the best proposal will receive the top prize award and certificate.

🏅 Top 3 runner ups - $25

In each stream, the 3 runner-ups will receive a runner-up award and certificate.

🎟 Registration giveaway for each stream

In each stream, a random participant will receive a registration giveaway with a minimum value of $25

Youth Virtual DiverSTEAM Symposium 2022

 


On May 25, 2022, the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) together with Let's Talk Science is hosting the Youth DiverSTEAM Symposium – an event to promote interest and careers in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) in hospital-based research institutes to high school students across the province, particularly those from under-represented or racialized communities. The virtual event will be held in Gather  - a simulation game environment and feature short, interactive talks, videos and virtual tours.

Hospital researchers and trainees of diverse backgrounds will share their passion for research and their academic career journeys with students of similar backgrounds. High school students in grades 9-12 will have the opportunity to hear first-hand about the various pathways to a career in STEAM and to network in a virtual interactive environment.

Scientifically Yours - Gr 10 & 11

 Scientifically Yours is a two-day residential workshop designed to encourage young people in Grades 10 and 11 to continue their studies in the sciences and to pursue careers in science-related fields.

Registration for the 2022 conference will begin in Wednesday April 6th!

The committee is planning the Scientifically Yours conference for May 5th & 6th, 2022. We look forward to welcoming you all at Brock University!

Thursday May 5th & Friday May 6th, 2022

Scientifically Yours provides an opportunity for students to learn more about science in a university setting. Students will learn about career opportunities from professionals who have careers in the sciences, including medicine, university research and industry. Everyone will participate in six science and mathematics projects, gaining hands-on laboratory experience.

The two-day event also includes recreational activities, networking and an opportunity to dine with a number of professional scientists. The workshops will be conducted with the assistance of Brock University student mentors, staff and faculty members.

Toronto Youth STEM & Innovation (TYSI) Conference

 

The Toronto Youth STEM & Innovation Conference is a free virtual event entirely run by GTA high school students for high school students. Our 2021 TYSI Conference sold out with 500 registrations. We introduce students to careers and professionals in STEM. This year’s conference will be held virtually on April 23rd from 10am-5pm. We have many exciting speakers including neurologists, investment bankers, engineers, veterinarians, and many more!
