Give Respect - Get Respect Competition

The Halton District School Board is very pleased to once again partner with the Halton Regional Police Service, Halton Region, and the Halton Catholic District School Board to support and promote the 2015-16 Give Respect ~ Get Respect Challenge. This challenge aims to spread the message of respect and healthy relationships, inviting all Halton students to "Join the movement!" 

This year, students in grades 6-12 are invited to develop creative arts-based public service messages that communicate the theme:

  • Give Respect ~ Get Respect: Promoting Positive Relationships and Positive Mental Health at Home,
  •  School and in the Community

Information including rules and submission guidelines can be found on myHDSB here

  • School entries must be submitted to Jonathan Shoss, Safe and Inclusive Schools System Principal at J.W. Singleton Centre for Education by Thursday March 10, 2016 at 4:00pm.

Each year, the Our Canada Awards celebrates students' vision of Canada.  

Student submissions can be from any discipline and in a variety of formats (e.g., artwork, video, poster, essay, rant).  

The submissions range from a local to personal focus, which highlight Canada's people, history, geography, culture and/or society.  The Our Canada Awards are open to all students (JK - Grade 12) in the Halton District School Board.

Are you interested in Fair Trade? Then read this:

Imaginaction is looking for schools to become Fair Trade designated by June 30, 2016.

"Fairtrade Canada
Fairtrade empowers millions of farmers and workers in the Global South by providing a Fairtrade Minimum Price for their product and a Fairtrade Premium that they can use to invest in their businesses and communities such as improvements to education, health care and overall quality of life. Products include bananas, coffee, cocoa, tea, sugar, flower, soccer balls and many others."

Don't wait, get involved!  Form a group/club and get started now.  Use your skills and develop new ones!  

ExploraVision Science Competition is Quickly Approaching



Teams of two to four students are challenged to brainstorm and design innovative technology 20 years in the future.  To prove the feasibility of their technologies, students simulate scientific and engineering processes to outline how they plan to test their ideas. Deliverables include a written report and student-designed website.

Open to all grade students.
